Neither the department nor the K.U.Leuven maintain a news server of their own.

You can use the following alternatives:

• Google Groups ... practically all news groups are available there.

• news.belnet.be ... this is a classical news server hosted by the Belgian Research Network, containing a selection of news groups.

• news.kotnet.org ... this is a classical news server containing the KotNet news groups ... also https://www.kotnet.org/webnews

• news.ulyssis.org ... this is a classical news server, containing a selection of news groups.
  From the ULYSSIS network, kotnet, KuleuvenNet and cwlab you can use this news server without authentication. If you want to access it from outside KULeuven networks, you can do so using nntps but you'll need a ULYSSIS account.

To read and post news via a classical news server, you need to configure your newsreader with the required host as nntpserver. (e.g. by using the environment variable NNTPSERVER)
