Please Note:
The following information is a recommended path for making
your Palm Pilot work with Netscape Calendar. No technical support is implied
in this information. As always, you should consult your user manual and
Read Me information .
Normally, the Palm Pilot does not "sync" with the Netscape Calendar. By installing some software, you can add this feature to your Palm Pilot.
Requirements.
You must have your Palm Pilot software and cradle installed to your computer. For instructions on installing the Palm Pilot software, refer to the installation materials. This document assumes you install to the default location. (My computer installed to C:\pilot) You should be running version 2.x of the Palm Pilot operating system. Any unit purchased in 1998 should already have this operating system.
Your computer must be running Windows '95. There is no solution for Windows 3.1 or Macintosh computers.
You should already have set up your Palm Pilot to sync with the desktop computer. At this time, the calendar on the Palm Pilot will sync with the calendar on the Palm Pilot Desktop.
Recent copies of the Netscape Communicator suite already have the communication program included. Look for it in the Start Menu sub menu where all the rest of Netscape can be found. If you really cannot find it there and you have looked at least twice, then proceed with downloading it from one of the sites mentioned below.
Using a web browser, (Netscape will work) download the file. It can be found at:
http://www.netscape.com/download/ppilot.html
or
local copy
It is not important where you save the file. I usually save to the desktop. Once you have saved the file, you can exit from your web browser. It is recommended that you exit all software. 3Com also recommends you exit the Hot Sync program. You will find the Palm Pilot Sync program icon located in the lower right corner of your screen. It is a circle with a red and blue arrow in it.
Click on the palm Pilot Sync program and choose Exit.
Go the the file you downloaded (ncpilink.exe). Double click the file to run the program.
Running this program will do 2 things. It will load the Netscape sync component to your desktop software and load the Palm Pilot NSCal Setup program in sytem to be loaded into your Palm Pilot the next time you sync. The program is self running. Accept all defaults. This program will reset the Palm Pilot Sync program to its active state.
Sync you Palm Pilot to your desktop machine. This will load the NSCal Setup into your Palm pilot.
Click on the Applications button on the screen of your Palm Pilot. Choose NSCal Setup
Chose the NSCal setup.
You will need to enter the following information so your Palm Pilot will be able to log into Netscape Calendar and exchange information.
Enter the following information for each field.
