Screen Recordings
This page is an attempt to centralise the questions (and hopefully answers to them) that helpdesk receives about screen recordings.
- KU Leuven documentation:
- The KU Leuven Corona FAQ has several items about online education
- Creating screencasts and/or other Kaltura documentation
- Kaltura works on Microsoft Windows - some issues have been reported on Apple MacOS - it does not work (as far as we know now) on Linux
- Recording a lecture in a class room - list of available rooms with necessary equipment
- this is platform independent because you use the equipment in the room
- The Faculty of Science has a page about Leren op afstand (Dutch only)
- (Linux) Open Source tools: https://itsfoss.com/best-linux-screen-recorders/
- of those, the following ones are installed on system group administered desktops and laptops:
- kazam - obs-studio - simplescreenrecorder - gtk-recordmydesktop - vokoscreen
- there seems to be a Kaltura project on github - if you have personal experience with it, please let us know how good it is
- of those, the following ones are installed on system group administered desktops and laptops:
- Some conferencing tools let you record your (online) meeting - this might be a convenient way to screencast using a more familiar tool - please see the relevant section in the conferencing tools documentation
- MAC / OSX : The default app QuickTime Player can also do screen recordings.
